What makes a good management?!
I should be on CDC website looking at the Elearning slides but aye, I should blog first. HEH.Four days of work as so-called promoter has ended. Yay-ness because 3 out of 4 locations were far! For eg. Jurong West, Clementi and Hougang :/
The first day went with Yunli and Maggie but they got rejected with an "OMG" from the staff of the marketing company. I didn't know what that 'OMG' was for in the first place, until we were told they bought pants that had specific sizes. But hello? They didn't even tell us there were sizes for the pants! I could still fit into the L size of the pants (which I think most probably bought from Bugis Street that kind), so I was in for the job. The pants was really short, like short shorts, so you can imagine how sexy my legs were in that pants. HAHAHA. And we were supposed to look fun and bubbly and healthy, so we had caps as well (like eww please- the design of the caps!)
And I was told by Fel's friend it was supposed to be a sampling job, but (my turn to) 'OMG', when I got the list of addresses, all I see was "Kopi Point", "Coffee Shop"..etc. Because I thought it was supposed to be a list of addresses of supermarkets instead. But I didn't back out of course.
Anyway my first day was working with this couple ( studying in SP) which on second day and for the rest of the days, they said they had food poisoning from the steamboat they had on the first day. I don't know if this's true but the guy was kind of upset because we all didn't expect to be at a coffeeshop (the couple was told to work at foodcourt like 313 LOL) and carrying trays, asking people if they would want to buy the drink. Maybe they thought it was embarrassing, like another guy from another group (at different location) who backed out and complained to the management of the marketing company in charge of the promotions for pokka after 2 days.
On second day, since I didn't have partners anymore (the 2 had food poisoning) one of the management person (of the marketing company) came down to work with another parttimer guy. The third and last day were with another 2 kids (16years old anyway haha). So you could imagine how many partners I worked with in just four days. Like 6 please! :/
Anyway the main point of this blog post about my experience over the four days is that I felt I was so close to being beer girl or coffeeshop helper. Because the shorts I wore was so short that the ahpeks and banglas were oogling at my thighs. NOT LIKE MY THIGHS VERY NICE, so I wasn't sure as well why they look and look :/ But I guess as long as they see flesh, they don't mind if it's fatty or lean meat! Hahaha! RIGHT!?
There would be pokka people who went down to spot check on us. And there was this woman who was trying to act busy on her phone, but her iPhone was held so vertically that made it very obvious that she's taking photos of us. And this lady who came down today just walked to us and made obvious of her presence which I thought was better because at least she came to say 'hi' to us. But her attitude sucked too, which I can't remember what now. But anyway, I feedbacked to her that they could given longer shorts (like maybe till mid thighs) because not all parttimer girls can accept wearing such short shorts, especially we are suppose to work at coffeshops where so many ahpeks and banglas are around.
Guess what she replied?
"Be glad we didn't ask you all to wear that sexy. Luckily you all are wearing polo tees now. And we also ask the coffeeshop people to take care of you all already."
My os at that time was seriously just "!@$#^*&&@!" I told her for me I didn't mind wearing, but for other girls they might feel uncomfortable. If it was at supermarkets, maybe the partimers wouldn't mind either.
My partner also told me that the same lady who went to spot-check her group for the first 2 days, told them it wasn't the parttimers who helped sell 8 cartons at one of the coffeeshops at Boonlay. But it was because there were a lot of office people patronising that coffeeshop. Seriously, like WTH?!
I don't know for others, but for me, I seriously dislike this kind of management who doesn't care and understand about the parttimers. Don't you think/feel that by making this kind of comment when I feedback to you or tell you about my sales, just practically dampens my mood and de-motivates me? And I seriously think they should try doing the promotion themselves for a day or something and they would understand the feelings of a parttimer.
That lady sort of expected us to sell as much as their previous campaign for sparkling fuji apple like around 10 cartons. But hello again?! They gave free apples for every can bought, but now? A packet of tissue! See the difference?! This marketing gimmick seriously suck, and I'm standing at the point of view of a consumer. Probably I would try your drink if you allowed me to sample (yes and no, the customers who were interested didn't have a chance to sample a bit of the new juices) but expecting me to buy because you are giving free tissues, nahhh. Not like I don't bring tissue when I go out for meals.
Even the coffeeshop helpers feedbacked to us that, without forking some of your expenses on giving samples to the customers, how would big money come rolling in? Luckily the coffeeshops' helpers were nice enough to help us promote and ask the patrons to buy our drink as well.
It was still good exposure though. At least I learnt to take care of my parttimers should I be involved in such events in future when I'm out into the society.
