HAPPY 43rd BDAY SINGAPORE!
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!
right, national day today and quite a number of pple in SB wore red, including me! hahaha! okok,i now i wore some 4yrs ago shirt, but hey!tts the only red shirt i have in my wardrobe! :D
hv been reading mypaper these few days and saw articles of pple commenting on hving a better singapore (in terms of courtesy and stuffs) or we need to identify a singapore culture or young pple need to be taught on patriotism and not being a parrot. i kind of agree with them. so wat if i wore red today? so wat if i wish everyone happy national day? yet i dont rly mean it?
singapore is small. yet it has made its way to wat it is now with the help of many ancestors of ours, and some say, its all ruled by the Lees. i got no comment on that. but rly, i dno wat singapore is. it doesnt rly have its own culture. and i thought deeply when i saw the olympics opening ceremony on starhub tv just now. true enough there are many small countries whom we hvnt heard their names of. and we may be so mch btr den them. but wat makes me proud of being a singaporean?
urh, not rly anything. the pple living here irks me. disgusting pple spitting here and there. inconsiderate pple squeezing into the train like no ones business. perverts who cant keep their hands to themselves on the train when its so packed. rude aunties and uncles...and the list goes on.
it rly doesnt make us a singaporean just by singing majulah every morning during primary and secondary school days. or neither does taking the pledge signify anything much. these 2 doesnt mean anything if we dont know the history or the stories behind the molding of singapore.
contradicting enough, im afraid i may not wna leave here. i know many pple hv been thinking of emigrating OUT of singapore. however, whenever i think of the times spent here, and the different values ive learnt of being a singaporean, i cant bear to leave singapore.
anyway, i was rly in awe of the olympics opening ceremony held in beijing. cheena though, the whole event was magnificent. i rly wondered how they rehearsed everything and coordinated everything so well. it was rly great. and i learnt so many different places which we hvnt heard of. 200over countries slowly walked in, with the proud faces and smiles. i expected singapore to have a small team, like 20? but i thnk there was abt 40. US and China had the greatest number of team members participating. over 600 pple.
anyway, i loved the last part of lighting of the torch. where li ning "flew" around the stadium, and then at the last part, he lighted up the biggest and largest torch with his. and wow! the structure of the huge torch was great.

and that makes me think of the youth olympics holding in singapore in 2 years time. i think we will be a laughing stock. hah.
