"The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism!" - by Norman Vincent Peale

I saw this on wuzun's blog that he shared in his latest post. He's always been sharing quotes that inspires him & hoping it'll inspire his fans too. & i always agree the quotes he shares. (well quotes are suppose to be inspiring & agreed by those who are to be inspired, right.)

I thought the quote is really true & reflects the current society we're living in. Everyone accepts praises (very) easily. You're right, who doesnt like to be praised? It's the feeling of being appreciated & evidence of being proved that we're doing the right thing. However, we never really accept criticism made about us or what we do. We tend to put on our protective shield & start rebutting & denying these criticisms made. But we havent really thought about how important & accurate these criticisms are. Like, maybe what we did really needed that criticism. Afterall, we cant see what we've really done wrong from our own perspectives, & thus people criticise to let us know what's wrong from their point of view.
Praises made send us flying in the air (not literally) & we'll tend to stop &not move on anymore. Eventually,we'll lose control of ourselves, & get so affected by these praises that we fall right down, flat. Criticisms made arent always appreciated as praises are when being made. Why? Humans are generally protective & superficial creatures. We can never accept negative comments made about us. But we never really think how much these criticisms could have saved us from sinking deeper (from doing something really wrong).

I think it's also got to do with the ironic character of humans too. While on one hand we accept praises & reject critisisms, we never really give praises easily but instead, give criticisms like it's free(haha). & I'm one of this general human beings. Maybe it's just my character or maybe it's got to do with the environment/society we're living in. I dont know how far I can remember, but my dad rarely praises us (or maybe never) & my mum not that much either. & growing up in this environment where praises are really "expensive", I learnt to give criticisms.

Maybe I should start with giving lesser criticisms. Haha.

The date to start of university draws nearer & nearer. The word"university" really kind of scares me because it means that's the end of education (for most of us unless you're going for masters etc.) (anyway i know just a bachelor's is not enough in this society but at least,it's a basic. if i can get away with a diploma, i would. but on the other hand, it means working which on second thought, i wouldnt just stop with a diploma hahaha) What's more is the advance standing I get. At first I really didnt want to study that long (& im really glad with something called advanced standing) because I thought of school fees & the things I'll have to study again. But now, as I thought of how soon I'll be stepping out to the society compared with my peers, I dread it.

I cant help but think of this again & again as I'll be starting school real soon.
Anyway! My mum told me to check with SIM if they've received my cheque since I mailed it out last last friday. & I was really pissed when they said they havent. & what made me really angry was it's passed the deadline of payment & since they havent received my cheque & I've already sent my acceptance letter, shouldnt they ask the student (me) if I've made my payment? It's frustrating how SIM works.

& i cant imagine if I were to choose other private institutions that's smaller than SIM.
